CPRE North Yorkshire

CPRE North Yorkshire Trustee meeting : 5 January 2016

Monday, 11 January 2016 09:50

The trustees of the North Yorkshire Branch of the Campaign to Protect Rural England met on the 5th of January 2016.

This was the first meeting with an open section for those involved in fracking and key planning issues.

Katie Atkinson, planning consultant, gave an excellent update to the meeting. The Branch has responded to the North Yorkshire Joint Minerals and Waste Consulation and to the recent applications at KM8 Kirkby Misperton.

The new committee is bedding in with objective, open and lively debate. Most importantly though, differences of opnion were embraced, viewpoints discussed enabling the committee to take a broader view of issues.

Rachel Fletcher of the Ryedale district took her place on the trustee group and will be an invaluable member of the committee.

Reports were given on the successful campaign to create good governance and comply with the checklists.

Updates were given regarding data protection.

Finances are improving allowing us to concentrate on supporting key planning applications within the Branch area.

Moving forwards, as we develop the Branch, we shall increase communication to members by producing a twice yearly newsletter to involve those not on the internet.

Our web and social media (facebook and twitter) following is growing and our press coverage is increasing.

The recent Branch Development Day held by the regional group in Leeds was well attended by CPRE North Yorkshire trustees, in fact, the Branch sent the largest number of trustees! All were in agreement that this was a useful and invaluable day. The region will hold a further development day later in the year.

The meeting and open session lasted until 3.30 however, in view of the reluctance of many to leave, it seems that this was an enjoyable and productive day.
