York & Selby - Secretary of State refuses permission for 102 homes in the Green Belt

Tuesday, 30 June 2015 10:01

Recent good news was the Secretary of State’s decision to refuse permission for 102 dwellings at Brecks Lane, Strensall, York.

The overall conclusion was that the scheme would cause substantial harm to the Green Belt and that this harm was not justified by special circumstances. In particular we were pleased that unmet housing need in the York area was not considered as justification to outweigh the harm to the Green Belt.

One of our committee members has played an active part in presenting the CPRE and Parish Councils objections at the various stages culminating in the Public Inquiry.
