Madge Bank appeal to develop within Cononley Conservation area refused

Relief at decision.

The community, strongly supported by CPRE North Yorkshire, CPRE Craven District Group, the Parish Council and the local district councillor have campaigned hard to protect this valued space.

Both the Branch and District Group endorsed the objections of the Parish Council and English Heritage and our charity objected to this development based on the following reasons:

  1. Adverse impact on the Cononley conservation area
  2. Outside development limits
  3. Loss of valued open space
  4. Traffic, including parking
  5. Increased noise pollution
  6. Housing need
  7. The development is not sustainable
  8. Grazing land
  9. Landscape Character
  10. Adverse impact on amenity

Today, we welcome this decision to refuse development.

Please see the attachment below for further details on our objection as well as relevant planning application information, historical information.
