Some envirnomental statistics.

Some 84% of European crops and 80% of wildflowers rely on insect pollination. The value of pollination to UK agriculture is £440 million per year (13% of the total value of agriculture), (Defra 2011).

The winter of 2013 to 2014 was the wettest on record with over 7,800 homes and nearly 3,000 commercial properties flooded, (DCLG)
273% of the English rivers surveyed were of good biological quality in 2009. This is a slight increase on 72% in 2008, although there has been little change in recent years, (Defra 2013).

The decade of 1998-2007 is the warmest on record, according to data sources obtained by the World Meteorological Organisation.
