Craven District Local Plan out for consultation

Wednesday, 21 June 2017 06:05

Pre-publication draft of local plan outlining development preferences outside the YDNP went out for six weeks consultation on the 19th of June

CPRENY welcomes the inclusion of the light pollution measures within the plan yet we have concerns regarding the lack of recognition of the importance of farming.  This area is known for the quality of its landscape and the character and appearance of the area.  Our farmers are the guardians of the countryside maintaining our iconic dry stone walls, meadows, hedgerows and contributing positively to tourism - another key economic factor in the continued development of Craven.  Yet, the plan fails to recognise farming as a key part of the Craven area.

The Plan has taken several years to get to this stage outlines development for the next 20 years in Craven.

This is the last chance to make any representation regarding this local plan.  Whilst it is heavy reading, it is important that we all recognise and understand what is planned for Craven.

CPRENY has commented extensively on the proposal and continually lobbied the authority for a common sense, realistic plan that recognised the character of Craven.
