Harrogate Local Plan

Monday, 05 March 2018 12:37

CPRENY are finishing off their work on the Harrogate Local Plan Regulation consultation ready for submission tomorrow.

This part of the emerging plan is about looking at the policies contained within and commenting as to their soundness or otherwise.

This is the second Regulation 19 Consulation this year (following Craven District Council's earlier in February) and one of the NINE local authority plans we are working on right now!

This means we have an amazing overview of what can be done and sadly in some cases what hasn't been done.

We support the majority of Harrogate's plan with the exception of the housing numbers which we believe are too high being both undeliverable and unsustainable. should the numbers be proved to be unrealistic given past build out rates following independent examination, it is hoped that the council will address our concerns regarding over allocation of land in the south and west of the district. With that in mind, all our previous comments on these sites still stand.

We have to state that this is a good plan.  It illustrates the best use of 'BEST PRACTICE' and was a pleasure to work through.

Whilst we do not agree with the housing numbers, the policies developed by the planning department are sound and in fact in some cases better than sound!
