A Beautiful and Litter-free Countryside Award 2013 The Marsh Awards for a Beautiful and Living Countryside was presented to Julie Hepworth the Chairman of Ryedale District Group by the National Charity of CPRE.

These awards in association with the "Marsh-Christian-Trust", are awarded annually to celebrate the people whose dedication and enthusiasm make CPRE what it is. Only a few people are given an award each year but it gives us a chance to acknowledge the enormous contribution made by all our volunteers and we're very grateful to the Trust who contribute the prize money and who select the winners each year. This prize is awarded to a CPRE volunteer or group, who have been working to reduce litter in the countryside and, through their efforts, have had a positive and sustainable impact. Julie, from CPRE North Yorkshire has inspired and led the 'Pickering Litter Pickers' in their work over the last few years. Not only has she been instrumental in organising litter picks in Pickering, a beautiful market town on the edge of the North Yorkshire Moors, but also in the surrounding countryside and has worked extensively with local schools to educate children as a preventative measure. Prize £500.
