Breaking news '22 Ideas' comes to North Yorkshire

Thursday, 16 June 2016 12:04

The Trustees of North Yorkshire CPRE are delighted to announce that Sir Peter Waine and Mr Oliver Hillam, authors of the outstanding publication '22 Ideas that saved the English countryside' will be the guests at our Annual General Meeting later in the year.  Our President, the Lord Crathorne, will preside over the meeting.  Last year's AGM was lucky enough to have Shaun Spiers CEO of the Campaign to Protect Rural England as speaker.  North Yorkshire Branch is moving forwards to take it's place amongst all the successful campaigning Branches in our network.  We shall have copies of the book on sale at a much reduced price for members of North Yorkshire CPRE and have asked Sir Peter and Oliver to sign copies!

The book is guaranteed to focus the most weary campaigner and remind all members why we do what we do!  It is inspirational and illustrated with outstanding photographic images (some from North Yorkshire naturally) and has contributions from Julia Bradbury of Countryfile fame,  Max Hastings, Simon Jenkins of the National Trust, , John Le Carre, Jo Brand, Tony Robinson, Jonathan Dimbleby, Ray Mears, Sir Andrew Motion (CPRE's former Ch`airman), Caroline Quentin, Nicholas Crane, Virginia McKenna, Jeanette Winterston, Joan Bakewell, Chris Baines, Terry Farrell, Clive Aslet, Satish Kumar, Fiona Reynolds, Kate Adie, David Puttnam and Melvyn Bragg - impressed?  You should be!

If you would like to pre order a copy of 22 Ideas, please write to cprecraven@me.com.  The book retails at 25 pounds and we shall be selling it to members for twelve pounds.

The meeting will consist of the formal part - ie Financial Report, Chairman's report, election of trustees and approval of last years minutes. It is important that those attending book in order to secure a place.  Over the past few years we have witnessed meetings with 12 persons in attendance - one of whom wasn't a member and last year, we had over 60.  One member complained last year about the need to book - however, we have made this key change to ensure that members are well looked after and to avoid unnecessary wastage of the charities funds.

As announced last year, copies of the annual report will be sent out by email and those who have declined or failed to respond to, the email option will receive hard copies

Eventually, as we move to a paper free charity, this will save the Branch over 500 pounds per annum.

Details will be posted soon.
