CPRENY read the application, compared it with local and national policies along with CPRE policies and carefully considered the views expressed by local people including the Parish Council. We were left in no doubt that an objection to the application which removed a redundant stone barn sited next to a traditional gateway to the village to create market homes in a picturesque area of North Yorkshire in the Richmondshire area.
Were this an application to create affordable homes for local people and reused the redundant stone building whilst protecting the natural gateway to the village we would have given it more credence. However, the damage to the Preston Under Scar Conservation would outweigh and perceived benefits of this application and therefore, we have respectfully asked that Richmondshire District Authority refuse this application.
