SoCC joined CPRENY three years ago and have worked long and hard to protect the famous Hellifield Flashes for local people. Residents of the area have, for generations, enjoyed this open space and value it for its biodiversity and walking. The site has been under attack from developers since the mid 90's when planning permission for a Railway Heritage Centre was granted. In 2017, there is no evidence of any railway heritage centre but the approval of this concept has morphed into an hotel, leisure park, cinemas and large scale parking facility. Locals have for two decades campaigned hard to protect this valued landscape, home to colonies of the Great Crested Newt and a major centre for migratory birds.SOCC CPRENY have continued
