Wetherby development - Leeds City Council objects
Harrogate Council recommends approval, Leeds City Council objects strongly to a proposal at Harrogate Road, Stockheld near Wetherby!
Carleton - 'out with' development limits where a council can display 5.49yr housing supply plus buffer!
It's small yes but it's another one in a conservation area in Craven where once again we have checked the file, looked at the full history and found that the balance is tipped - the harm far outweighs any perceived benefits.
Open countryside, out with development limits, heritage assets, foot paths ... heard it all before?
Local residents have contacted CPRENorthYorkshire regularly regarding Carleton, we have to listen to them as they keep coming back. They report that there's also the outstanding issue of the application at Grundy Farm where a developer is trying to gain approval on a site within conservation area yet the same developer owns brownfield land in the same village with approved permission for 20+ housing. Apparently the developer will not provide the 24 homes outside the conservation area on brownfield land if the council approve the four executive homes in the conservation area.... can this really be true?
Harrogate again - Almsford Stables Leeds Road 65 dwellings
Another application following the current trend of trying gain approval of sites through DM applications based on the lack of 5 year supply basis prior to the Examination in Public for the Harrogate district - this is another site which was considered by the council call for sites and then thrown out having been assessed by the SA!
A copy of our objection can be found below
and another application to reduce the affordable homes quota....
When will someone join up the dots and recognise this trend
Apply for planning permission, promise to build a solid quota of affordable homes then apply to half the number of the homes we really need?
North Stanley, Harrogate - Scoping Opinion
CPRENY beleive that this site should be subject to an EIA (Environmental Impact Assessment) and that the applicant should present the local authority with an appropriate Environmental Statement.

You can take a horse to water - but you simply cannot make it drink or ... you can grant all the planning permissions you like but right now, you cannot make developers build!
Both the Telegraph and the Independent recently reported that planning permissions have been granted for 420-423k homes.
Ingleton - Enough is Enough......
CPRENY following representations from local people and members of the charity have today responded to a further application in Ingleton.
In the words of a District Councillor; "Enough is Enough
York Local Plan latest.....
In Planning Resource this week, the following was reported
Council facing Javid local plan intervention rejects extra housing allocations
CPRENY cares about Harrogate - Pannal 17/05595/OUTMAJ
Following concerns raised by local residents, CPRENY has examined the planning application at Whinney Lane and submitted their comment.
Will the current onslaught ever end? Harrogate is a beautiful place - which is probably why it is being targetted but once it has been destroyed by over development of large housing estates - will this beautiful town still be a thriving town surrounded by stunning countryside
Rowden Lane again in Hampsthwaite - CPRENY objects to the principle of development on this site
CPRENY have objected to an outline planning application in Hampsthwaite to build up to 80 dwellings in the conservation village near the Nidderdale AONB.
