REFUSED!! York Green belt application!

REFUSED!!

The amended application to build a large scale poultry farm in the York Green Belt on a site where no farm previously existed has been refused by City of York planners and planning committee

It will no doubt come back in a different form.

We will continue to campaign to prevent this type of new industrial scale development in the green belt.

The Yorkshire Sacrifice Zone?

The future of our countryside doesn't depend on fracking - it depends on people

A recent "Op-Ed" in the Yorkshire Post has provoked quite a response! (See below for details)

We're campaigning to stop  Fast-Tracked Fracking - it's all all out assault of local democracy.

The Government has been driving fracking forward in the face of massive local and public opposition based on well reported environmental and health risks

If their new proposals are successful, they'll be able to force exploratory drilling and full scale fracking against the will of local communities and the wider public.

The Government is showing a blatant disregard for local democracy and the concerns of general public and this must be stopped.

Whilst we gleefully reported that the contentious application in Carleton had been withdrawn,

only a few days later it came back in a different form!

Grundy Farm - a greenfield site in near to the brownfield site owned by the developer is back on the agenda.

Application 2018/19559/FUL

This time for 6 executive homes (where are all these homeless executives needing new homes?)

However the number be it 6 or 21 is irrelevant.  The applicant owns a brownfield site nearby and brownfield should be used first - particularly when the application site in in a conservation area and the application requires the demolition of a listed wall.

We've said it before and we'll say it again and again and again - we need affordable homes not executive homes and we need to develop brownfield land first and look after green fields especially in or around conservation areas.

Success for CPRE

Government recently made a bold change - CPRENorth Yorkshire contributed to the joint report by CPRE & Shelter. We've seen developers in the county buy up land, promise affordable homes then scream poverty and inability to provide the promised homes needed and replace them with market executive homes.  That loophole has been closed.

Hoo RAH

Hellifield Flashes - once the principle of development is established that's it.

STOP PRESS STOP PRESS STOP PRESS

It with restored confidence in the system that CPRENorthYorkshire is pleased to report that Planners have recommended the poultry farm application in the York Green Belt for refusal!

A focus on trustees!

An introduction to one of our trustees! Katie Atkinson

Each one of CPRENorthYorkshire brings professional skills to the board.  We start our intoduction with Katie Atkinson who joined us in January this year - and you'll see from her biography that we are very lucky to have her.  Katie works closely with the chair of the charity and each week they hold "Operations calls'.

This has moved the charity away from the old days where matters whent three months before being addressed!  We are always monitoring activity - good and bad in the county.

Harrogate Borough Council have refused the application 17/04318/OUTMAJ at Kirkby Hill Harrogate

CPRENorthYorkshire are delighted that this application for 50 dwellings has been refused and were highly active (following requests from local people) in objecting to the proposeal and the revised scheme.
